McFadden blow for Scotland
Scotland have been dealt a huge blow ahead of next month’s important qualifier against Holland when it was revealed that star forward James McFadden will miss the game against the Dutch due to a knee injury.
McFadden suffered the injury when Birmingham beat Derby County 1-0 in a Coca Cola Championship match at St.Andrews last week. A scan revealed that the former Everton striker had suffered medial ligament damage in his left knee.
McFadden is expected to be out for close to eight weeks, and that makes him a doubt for Scotland’s other World Cup qualifier against Iceland on April 1.
McFadden’s injury is also a blow to his club Birmingham, who are currently in an important phase in their current league campaign. The Blues are pushing for a return back to the Premiership, and McFadden’s absence could hurt their promotion hopes.
