Kewell was voted PFA Young Player of the Year in 2000, but since then has been suffering through a variety of injuries. In the 2005-06 season, he only made 41 appearances, but made three goals. An injury forced him to sit out half way through the FA cup final game. Despite this, he would not let his injuries get to him and led Australia to their first qualification since 1974 into the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
