Birmingham City sign Lee Bowyer on loan
Birmingham City has signed midfielder Lee Bowyer on loan from West Ham United till the end of the season. The former Newcastle and Leeds medio becomes the fifth arrival at St.Andrews this winter, following in the footsteps of Keith Fahey, Robin Shroot, Scott Sinclair and Hameur Bouazza.
Bowyer joined West Ham in June 2006 from Newcastle, but only made 41 appearances for the Hammers in his two and a half year spell at Upton Park.
Birmingham, managed by Alex McLeish, are currently third in the Championship table, seven points behind leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Bowyer will however not feature in Birmingham’s league game against Blackpool on Saturday.
Bowyer is the second player to leave the Hammers in January. Winger Matthew Etherington has already left for Stoke City, and Scott Parker, Craig Bellamy, Luis Boa Morte, Lucas Neill and a host of others could follow suit.
